We went to see Colin a little late this morning – we all woke up late.
He was just getting into his chair, so we went outside, and then into the garden. He loves to go outside, and once he is in his chair, he can almost go anywhere he wants. Yesterday, one of the male physios (who I haven’t seen much before), showed us that he will be much more comfortable with a folded towel under his left shoulder when he is in the chair. He seems to sort of lean a little, or sort of sink down, to the left when he sits, and the towel helps him stay straight. He is gaining confidence and skill in driving the chair, and today we even went down some super-steep ramps into the garden, and although we had one moment of stress on a particularly steep and narrow ramp, he drove like a champ.
We are planning on having a braai in the garden on a weekend, and it seems as if Colin will be able to sit long enough so it will be wonderful.
I am doing an on-line course about spinal injury related caring, and today I helped Colin with some pressure relief positions when he was in the chair. I am actually loving the information, sort of knowing what the possibilities are for different outcomes, and I am able to help Colin with a few things that he finds useful as well.
Today I am grateful for resources, support structures, and family. <3

Janis, Kim sent me a link to your blog and after reading the diary I have to tell you how proud and impressed I am at your strength and support. You are an amazing person and you need to take time for yourself every now and again, recharge the battery, pat yourself on the back and believe.
Best wishes
Janis
