Today Colin was showing us how well he is doing with his arm movement on his left side. His shoulder is still sore so he can’t really work on his right, but hopefully this week it will be sorted out. He does have some slight improvement in his right forearm, and you can see the muscles trying to work there. I still have to figure out how to load a video.
The nurses say that he is starting to get sores on his back and the skin is cracking, but here is a lovely picture of him smiling for me.
His trachy still needs a lot of suctioning, but I am hopeful that it will be less and less in time. He is improving with his slight sounds, and the speech therapist will start with him on Monday. I can tell he is anxious to get talking again.
He said a really lovely thing to me yesterday – he said that he is so glad he has me, and that he would have given up otherwise. I feel so lucky and pleased that he is able to sort of lean on me for support – that is the way it is supposed to be, isn’t it?
I am sad for him that his hands and left shoulder, and legs and even feet are sort of starting to lose their muscle mass and he is starting to look a little sort of weak and helpless. It really breaks my heart for him, but he seems very positive and I am in awe of him and his bravery and hard work.
Wish he was coming home sooner, but I also understand that we need to take time to prepare the house, and adjust to the new way we will be together.
Missing you more and more my love. <3

You are both going from strength to strength ….. A win win situation!

It is. I don’t know what the road will be, but I hope for more win-wins along the way <3

I wonder if in time hydrotherapy would be helpful? So much for you both to learn and adjust to. Your strength and courage is so admirable. I think that you are amazing. And don’t forget to recharge your batteries too.

They do have a pool with a special ramp but I am not sure when we will get to that. I made a joke to Colin and said I would roll him down into the pool, and he made a joke about me leaving hi there to drown. HA HA
