This morning when I woke up and got up I noticed that Colin had spasm-d himself almost entirely off the bed. His bum was three quarters on still, but both his legs were hanging off and he was ice cold to the touch. After helping him up onto the bed again, and covering him up and warming him up, I yelled at him for not waking me up. He replied that he didn’t know he was that far off, and that he was fine. SIGH!
I have been raising the side on the right but now will raise the sides on the left as well every night, even though he doesn’t like it. We have increased his spasm medication, but that was really almost a disaster. Sometime when sitting, his spasm will pull him off balance, and luckily I got a new script from the Doc about 3 days ago, otherwise it may not have had a happy ending.
All these things we need to learn. Spasms CAN and DO pull patients off the bed. The nurses don’t just put the rails up for no reason. HA HA HA
