Some good news – I fed him a small pot of yoghurt, and he loved that. He also drank almost a whole juice, and seems to be fine with the food and drink, although they are still introducing it too slowly for his liking. Tomorrow will be 7 days since they installed his trachy and so they are changing it for one that will allow him to speak. There is apparently a steep learning curve, but I am sure he will crush that.
I did check with the nurse and doctor, and they said it would be fine, so I gave him one lemon cream biscuit, a pot of yogurt, and the leftover seven eighths of the appeltiser from yesterday – he said he preferred it a little flat. He also drank a small bit of the litchi juice, but very little.
We also got a time frame today – and that he will most likely go to rehab on Monday. They said it usually takes at least 4 weeks as a guide, and they will obviously asses him fully we he gets there, but that seems like a manageable chunk to me. I can also visit him anytime between 10am and 8pm, or stay as long as I like etc. I am very pleased about this. I will also be in “training” for a few full days learning how to be a “carer”. I am looking forward to this next step.
O am feeling SO much happier and able to see my way forward now.
