We got fantastic news today – the visit on Saturday was a success (which we already knew, but it had to be confirmed by debrief and the Doc and the Physios, etc) and it was such a success that he will be allowed to come home for the weekend from now on, which includes sleeping over on Saturday nights. Some people have a few day visits only, then two day visits but coming back to the rehab over night. We seem to have made a giant leap forward, and it is all due to Colin’s hard work and determination.
This means we will fetch him on saturday morning early, and then take him back on sunday evening. We are all ecstatic beyond words.
We have not been able to finalise the alterations yet (still tweaking the quotes) but we can get him in using a manual chair, and then he can use his motorised one indoors. This is possibly the most exciting news I have had for ages. It is like a dream come true. I know it will be hard work and tiring for all concerned until we are able to settle in to our new routine, but it is just too wonderful.
Looking forward, and hope we can get all the admin done in time.
Today I am grateful for family and friends who are there all the time, and just allow me to have my grumpy moments. 😀

Hey. The carer will only be there during the day – I am going to be on night duty, and see how it goes. I will keep you posted.
